it was a successful long weekend of competitions at the 2017 Sydney Taekwondo Festival held last June 11-12 at the Liverpool Catholic Club with Team Taya winning a total tally of 26 medals - 17 Golds, 7 Silvers, 2 Bronzes and awarded as the Best Club of the Tournament. There were some disappointing results but overall a successful team outcome. Our cadets have backed up their strong performances at the Australian Team Selections just the day before and equally did well at the Festival with Ysabella Querubin winning her two divisions and awarded the Best Female Cadet Athlete of the tournament. Our young athletes have displayed tenacity, strong focus and maturity beyond their years which was behind the team's success. Well done Team Taya!!! Check out our Facebook posts for photos and individual results.

Team Taya cadets have performed well at their first selections held at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. Connor Fleming won Gold in a tightly contested match and made the Australian Team in the under 53 kgs division. Aaditya Kadam reached the finals after two strong performances at the preliminary and semi finals rounds which he won with high scores but settled for Silver in a nail biting match in the under 41 kgs division. Ysabella Querubin was leading in all 3 rounds but unfortunately lost by 1 point at the last few seconds narrowly missing out on finals and settling for Bronze but learned a lot from the experience. Well done Connor, Aaditya and Ysabella!!! Check out our FB posts for their photos and match details.
Team Taya travelled to the Gold Coast, QLD and competed at the 2017 Gold Coast Open. They have performed very well bringing home a tally of 23 medals (15 Golds, 2 Silvers, 5 Bronzes) from 12 athletes over two days of sparring and poomsae competitions. Our athletes have stepped up at this tournament, have learned so much from the experience and had an amazing time with team bonding activities before, during and post competitions. Thank you to our Team Taya families for your support and loud cheers which meant so much for the team.
