Abby participated at the last Australian Taekwondo Open and National Championships held on September 8 to 11, 2011 at the Australian Institute of Sports in Canberra for Taekwondo Australia where she won two Silver Medals in separate divisions in the Female, Black Belt, 14 - 15 year age group and 14 - 17 year age group both for the 42-44 kgs weight division. She, unfortunately, lost in both finals to a 15 year old opponent from Victoria (Abby was only 13 years at the time of the fight). Her first challenge in the 14-15 year age division was also with a Victorian opponent whom she beat with a score of 26 - 14 which was a fantastic achievement! In the finals, she lost by just 1 point to the older and taller opponent with a score of 6 - 7.

Abby also competed at the Sports Taekwondo Australia National Championships at the Gold Coast on 17 September 2011 in the Black Belt Division, Girls 14 - 17 year age group and again received a Silver Medal. She competed against two girls from Victoria. Her score in the first match was 13 - 0 and was stopped midway because of superiority! Her second and final round was with her old rival with a score of 3 - 5.

Abby’s Silver Medals in all three of her divisions at the recent national tournaments have put her in a very strong position as she prepares for the Australian Junior National Team Selection on 5 February 2012 for the World Junior Taekwondo Championships in Egypt in April 2012.
