It was a great weekend of competitions at the AIS Main Arena in Canberra last 7-8 July 2018 which commenced with Team Taya fighting against the country's best taekwondo athletes for a spot in the Australian Team for the 2018 Oceania Championships with Sofia Querubin winning Gold, Ysabella Querubin winning first match but losing in finals and settling for Silver, Connor Fleming with Silver and Aaditya Kadam with a Bronze medal.

This was followed by the two-day ACT CCC Championships with Team Taya performing strongly bringing home a total of 35 medals - 15 Golds, 9 Silvers, 11 Bronzes in sparring and poomsae. Our cadet girls Ysabella and Sofia had the opportunity to fight Hankuk athletes from Madrid, Spain who were European Championships Cadet Medallists and learned from the experience. There were excellent performances from all of our young athletes notably from double gold medallists Diego Querubin who won all three of his fights and Chelsea Gomez who won both her divisions. Most of our athletes fought in two divisions as part of their grass roots training and development.

Well done Team Taya!!! An excellent preparation for the upcoming Gold Coast Open on July 28-29, 2018, NSW State Selections on August 12, 2018 and the Australian National Championships on September 22-24, 2018 in Bendigo, VIC. Thank you to all the families for your support and encouragement.
